The Memphis Beautification Committee held its first meeting on April 21st @ 2pm in the meeting room at the public library and the following committee members attended.

The following topics were covered:
Our Goal- To work together as a whole to make Memphis pleasing to the travelers passing through that they would want to stop and visit our town and see what we have to offer.
Ideas & Discussion: Police Officers offering business coupons to those they pull over for citations
Contacting tx.dot regarding more highway lights, signage and spraying wild flowers in the medians.
Projects in the works: Elementary & Middle school Essay, slogan & Design contests, Welcome sign, Coordinating a clean up day & business coupons
Newsletter & Blog: Designing a monthly newsletter and blog to keep community updated on new news and what is going on.
Churches: Talking with the pastors about volunteers & our monthly tips being placed in their announcements.
Grants: Locating possible grant writers to help get grants
Newspaper: Getting our monthly tips placed in the paper each month
Meeting times: Once a month, contacting committe members on when is a convient time to hold meetings
Meeting was adjorned at 3:31pm, next meeting has not been scheduled as of yet!
